Fun, fun, fun

Sometimes Elena and Jan fancy knitting using patterns and yarns other than their own.  The projects shown above are examples of some of their recent items.

Elena's daughter Maya was always borrowing Elena's scarf that was similar, so as she had a couple of special skeins of Silky Merino by Malabrigo, who better than to use it for but her own little girl.  You can see Maya wrapped up extra warm for this photo taken in the middle of the cold and snowy Canadian winter.  The pattern is Drop Stitch Scarf by Christine Vogel.

Crikey don't kids grow fast!  The centre photo shows Maya wearing a cardigan designed by Georgie Hallam - Jane.  When Elena started it in the New Year she was aiming for it to fit Maya... Maya however had other ideas and decided to grow about 2 inches taller as she knitted.  So now off it goes to her little cousin who we are sure will get much enjoyment and use from it.

Jan's sister is as ever a willing model especially when she gets to keep the item!  This week she has been wearing a Florence scarf using Cumulus a new yarn from Fyberspates.  Jan says the yarn was a delight to work with as it is fluffy yet retains all the fibres as you knit and wear the scarf, an added bonus in the warm spring weather they are having in the UK is that the scarf is still light enough to wear all year round.  Luckily for Jan she was able to whizz up a second scarf for herself too!  Florence has just been updated to ensure its suitability for Cumulus.  Jan says the pattern is quick and the lace easy to read meaning she could put it down and carry on whenever she felt like it.

Remember too, there are KAL's going on in Anadiomena's Adventures on Ravelry for Elena's patterns and/or Colour Adventures yarns.  Double dipping is allowed.  Did you know that Nostalgia Shawl was picked as a KAL project for Mad May in Madelinetosh Lovers!
